Bad Weather Causes Cancellations

Bad WeatherWith rain, sleet and snow causing a number of racecourses in the UK to abandon their racing fixtures, it is those racecourses who wisely invested in the all-weather surfaces who are able to keep the horse racing industry ticking over when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Here we are almost halfway through February and many racecourses have had to cancel their meetings.

Today however, Tuesday the 12th of February, both Southwell and Lingfield’s all weather tracks have been given the green light as expected, and north of the border the full race meeting at Ayr goes ahead, which, in the case of the latter is quite an achievement with heavy snowfall having been predicted by weather men!

Bet Victor is the main sponsor at Ayr today with a full seven card race meeting planned, starting at 1.50pm with the BetVictor Welsh Open Final Frame Insurance Maiden Hurdle and ending at 5.00pm with the BetVictor Exclusive Ante post Offer Cheltenham 2013 Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Over at Lingfield, subject to an 8am inspection their race card will get underway at 1.30pm with the Follow Us On Twitter @Lingfield Park Handicap Chase with the final race of the day, subject to everything going as planned being the 4.40pm race which is the Forest Row Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race which will be run on the all weather track.

Southwell will not be having an early inspection of the track and as such all races today goes ahead, beginning with the first race of the day which starts at 1:40 with the Best Racing Odds Guaranteed At bookmakers.co.uk Handicap and finishes with the 4:50pm race which is the coral.co.uk Mobile Betting Handicap.

The most tipped horse of the day is in the 2.00 at Lingfield and this horse is Ballygarvey, who has a very good record at this track having won both of his last two starts at Lingfield. His liking for both the track and the distance of this race, which incidentally is 2 miles and 4 furlongs, along with his jumping ability will stand him in good light.

With just 4 runners in the race the expected starting price on Ballygarvey is not expected to be huge, however looking at the competition in the race it is only Dark and Dangerous and perhaps Clouded Thoughts who should have any chance of worrying Ballygarvey.
