Are Harbour Pointe staff members licensed?

Harbour Pointe's staff is composed of experienced professionals with licenses in gambling addiction counseling or the professional discipline they represent, such as MDs, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. Our programs is currently working with Maryland legislation to develop a license for residential treatment of gambling. The only license the State of Maryland offers are that of alcohol/drug programs. Residential gambling treatment does not need that criteria because there is not a detox component to gambling addiction. Our Department of Health and Mental Hygiene know we exist and what we do and hopefully in the next two years we will have pioneered the State of Maryland into creating a license to recognize a residential treatment program for gambling addiction.

Harbour Pointe has a treating psychiatrist, Dr. Jack Vaeth. A complete psychiatric evaluation will be conducted during the first few days of admission to our residential program. For urgent and emergency medical and psychiatric care needs, we refer residential patients to local resources such as acute care hospitals, specialty physicians and psychiatrists.
